Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC):
grants management system
The GRDC manage agricultural investment and grants from the Australian Government. GRDC need to initiate, monitor and report on their investments. I was brought in to assess and improve the existing grants management system. Through this process our team also developed an external grants application and management portal.
Project responsibilities
As an interaction designer working with a co-located Scrum team I:
conducted an experience review of the existing internal system and the external user submission portal
designed mock-ups, wireframes and prototypes to inform the development of front-end experience
developed design guidelines to ensure a consistent and quality user experience
educated and helped those team members working remotely to understand the importance of good user-centred design
Improvement through user-centred design
Our team used a feedback portal and held monthly prioritisation user groups to identify key improvements in response to user needs, which we defined in user stories. By continually engaging with users and iterating on their feedback, we eased some significant pain points within the current system. We reduced the manual entry of data and streamlined the workflow for processing and tracking grant payments.
Design Artefact Example
High fidelity user flow that allows the export of a grant application to be downloaded as an PDF. This was to meet the user need to have a summary of the application for internal sign off before submission to GRDC.
